In this class, tatsuya will take you into his world and start with a introduction about paper and other important thinks to know before starting bookbinding. afterwards, you will learn a simple binding technique without gluing that you can practice at home without special bindingmaterials. this simple binding has endless variations, it's a verry nice start to make your own personalized notebooks or apply them to your creative book projects.
this class is “required” if the world of paper and bookbinding is new for you. if the names, tools, direction of paper and the anatomy of a book are not foreign to you, it can be skipped.
*** a breef history … texts were bound together to store all knowledge and information. the bookbinding techniques evolved with the paper, ink and printing techniques. in the beginning, people bought the text pages from the printer or publisher and they went to the bookbinder who bound the pages together, depending on their resources, the bookbinder could finish the books with different cover + material techniques.
