In Workshop 2, we stay with the Chancery style but explore other letterforms. We will continue working on the alphabet and learn the finer points of this elegant style. Caroline will show how to combine the letters, allowing us to form a complete and beautiful script. (Workshop 1 or 3 is required).
*** a brief history … texts and books were written by hand by monks. the writing of those texts was very time-consuming, and the paper was very expensive. this ensured that only the rich could buy and read texts/books. the typeface was systematically modified in order to use the paper faster and/or more efficiently.
